Calling all Chinese mega-bisquillionaires ....

As the sun is about to set on the initial transfer ban window, just what is a manager to do ?

Put in a call to that old pal who knows someone who played baccarat in Macau last year on a Far East trip and shared a table with the Datang, Zhuji Prince of Athletic Socks ?  In the hope that your old friend can convince his long lost baccarat 'buddy' to drop a lazy twenty million into your club.  Help in the final push for the league, or to avoid relegation.  Or maybe to sew up deals for a couple of top younger talents ...

...... and then you woke up ......

Yes ... it looks like it is a beautiful day.  A glorious day indeed.

Ah .... but no ... there is no twenty million coming to rescue, bolster or help in any way shape or form your LPF club.  Because as you know, this is an all cash league.  No trading two aging defenders for a young top midfield prospect just signed by Bayer Leverkusen to a five year deal already being likened to Herr Ballack at 17.

Seventeen games into the inaugural season, and we all should have a reasonable view on our squad's performance.  Some of us went the full old codger route, aiming for quick success.  Some of us took a blended approach, with some old codgers, some younger talent, some mid-age ranged talent (23-30).  Some of us went the full youth team route and cannot be left unguarded (err... I mean unaccompanied) around about to graduate teenage private school girls.

Whatever strategy you took to build your initial squad a new day is about to dawn.  With only a handful of games left in this season, you could get a few player sales away and snag that potential missing link to a division winning run, or escape from the relegation zone, but it will be a close call.

So to raise funds we sell players.

Who to sell ?  A early young fast riser, divide and conquer, get a two for one, or three for one and expand your herd ?  Sell some younger youth team players that you didn't really know why you bought in the first place, and pick up a starter and reduce the herd ?  Sell some older players who have suffered those inexplicable fall in rating from when you bought them oh so cheeeeeeep and who now have a weekly wage that does not belie their value to your team ?  Or that injured player who always promised to help but never delivered ?

It is going to be an interesting couple of weeks as the opportunity to re-calibrate your squad and team, fine tune your set up is about to open up.

For mine, the big unknown is the start of a new European football season.  Who knows if that young midfielder who was sold to Stuttgart is about to become the new Naby Keita and all you saw was $400k ....

For some of us, trying to sneak a quick deal on some inside transfer or team news on young talent will be made a little easier this season, with a second generation LPF manager (a.k.a. Sir Stephen Beddows) taking his standard approach to signing young talent.  Procured with the assistance of the Wolves gaffer Mike T, from a school closure sale in Paris, Texas, is his new 'stealth' young team signing bus ...

Beddows has nicknamed it the Canyonero

So what are your plans.  Had you even thought about it ?  Have you been too busy trying to get your fringe youth team inspired for the upcoming final stretch of games like Gino has in sunny Vienna ?

Feel free to post your thoughts or idea's ... good luck to all in the final run-in of our inaugural season and a big thanks to DP for setting this league up 🙇

  2. Thanks mate ... I just saw that the transfer list has clicked over to a second page. External bids will be the order of the day for at least 2, maybe 3 seasons I think. A different unique GW that will keep us on our toes
